SAN MARCOS RANCH
Juarez, Coahuila

13,580 +/- Acres   |   Price upon request

San Marcos is a hunter’s paradise due to its amazing brush and unique landscape. It’s home to giant whitetail deer, as well as plenty of ducks, quail and dove. It is not uncommon to see 200”+ bucks running around during the rut. There are 30 protein feeders that are kept full all year, as well as 9 solid tower blinds located in strategic areas for hunting. A unique feature is the 1,630 acres of “lagunetas”, which are big open fields of native grass where deer and cattle absolutely love to graze year round.

LOCATION

San Marcos is located just 28 miles south of the Texas border, right in the heart of the Golden Triangle, which is considered one of the best areas in the world for trophy whitetail deer. It is approximately a 2 1/2 hour drive from the city of Eagle Pass, TX or 3 1/2 hours from Laredo, TX.

PROPERTY

The ranch is high fenced around the 19 mile perimeter. What's really incredible about this ranch is that it's a perfect mixture of big open grasslands and thick brush. The variety of brush for whitetail is outstanding. Its "lagunetas" (natural open grass fields) provide food that can't be found anywhere else in the state. Deer and cattle can't get enough of the grass and unique plants these fields offer year round. Quail and dove roam by the hundreds as well because of the seeds on the "lagunetas". When it rains generously, they will fill up with water and attract thousands of ducks as well.

San Marcos neighbors the big "El Novillo" ranch to the North. Roads are well distributed and in good condition. There are 2 cowboy houses. We are currently working on building a large house and bringing permanent power. There’s also a small storage warehouse and cattle pens.

HUNTING

When it comes to whitetails, this ranch is a giant producing machine. There have been six deer over 200" taken at the ranch in the last 3 years. As well as 170's, 180's and 190's. The deer population is as healthy as can be. It's not uncommon to see close to 100 deer driving around in the high rack. And these are wild deer too! No pen released stuff. Very impressive. There is very little hunting pressure because the Lopez family only allow the oldest bucks to be harvested, giving them every opportunity to get old and develop their maximum potential. The diversity of vegetation, from big open fields to thick brush with long dirt roads, makes hunting extremely enjoyable.

WATER

San Marcos has 24 ponds that receive good water troughout the year. Becuase of the ranch’s contour, water runs very well when it rains. It also has the “Camaron Creek” that fills up the famous “Tanque Mexico”, which is around 40 acres when full, and is home to thousands of ducks. There are also 30 water troughs that are distributed throughout the property.

CATTLE

San Marcos currently holds around 300 head of excellent quality Red Angus cattle. All males calves are exported to the US every year, as are some heifers. There are plenty of horses to work the cattle on the big pastures, as well as cattle corrals.
