LOCATION

Los Altares is located 45 minutes south of the town of Santa Monica, Coahuila. In a straight line, it's only 27 miles south of the US border. It has American neighbors to the north and Mexican neighbors on the rest of the property.

PROPERTY

You can tell straight away that you're walking into a well-maintained property when you get to the main gate. Los Altares' 5,375 acres are low fenced, with a great road system, incredible views and a lot of water. The headquarters has been taken care of throughout the years, and everything is run on solar. You can see some pics of the solar system that is currently in place. There is a main house, two cowboy houses, one open and one closed storage shed. There are also some cattle pens and the ranch has around 150 head of cattle at the moment. The ranch felt a lot bigger than 5k acres when we drove it. There are some beautiful scenic areas, and there is definitely a lot that can be done to potentially build a lake in one of its many "arroyos".

WATER

Water at Los Altares is excellent, considering the hills and rock that make water distribution more complicated. There are lots of water throughs throughout (around 25), all distributed via gravity with black poly pipe that will last a lifetime. There are two main wells, one of which has so much pressure that needs to be open continuously. The water is definitely "hard" and has some smell to it, but is perfectly fine for wildlife and cattle.
